I crocheted a few hats for this winter - made-up patterns that are variations of the standard hat pattern.

The four here are each different from the other in some way - one even has ear flaps that provides the trendy chain mail helm look :)

Much like the last couple of cushion covers, these use paste batik technique (as in the Letters Flag project) just as a mask to preserve the white of the muslin on the outlines.

My mom, after making those fancy satin cushions, decided to use the same smocking-ish pattern for a skirt for Ana when we recently visited her.

It is gorgeous, of course! 

Ana wanted her Pattee (grandma, my mom) to make a long flowing princess dress with that pattern for the chest, much like old-fashioned smocked dresses. But, lack of time made my mom put that on hold.

My mom made this blouse for Ana: designed, embroidered, and sewed it. 

I love the collar. I used to have a dress with this same collar that my mom had made for me when I was little. It was a white dress with redwork embroidery. I remember it had red lace edging. 



On my request, my mom made it a little bigger so it can hopefully stay with us a few more years as she grows.

For as long as I can remember, from the time I started registering such things, my mom had some project or the other going, learning new ones as and when opportunity presents itself. She still does. Needlework and sewing are her top favorites.
